The basics
What Is a Custom Balloon Installation?
If it hangs overhead, stretches across a room, takes on a shape or carries a logo, we call it an installation.
An installation is balloon decor drawn up for one particular room and assembled in it, generally larger or more engineered than a regular arch, garland or column. Picture balloons filling the ceiling above a dance floor, a cloud hovering over a sweetheart table, a 30 ft entrance arch for a store opening, an oversized mosaic number, a walk-through tunnel or a logo sculpted in balloons. This is the point where balloon decor turns into balloon art.
Because each build belongs to a single room, we begin with a tape measure and a sketch instead of a price list. Choose one when the space is large, the event is high-profile or you want something your guests haven't seen at every other party this year. For standard pieces, start with balloon arches, garlands, walls, columns or backdrops.
What we install
Types of Custom Balloon Installations
These are the installations Atlanta venues, brands and hosts ask about most.
Balloon ceilings
A balloon ceiling takes over everything above eye level. We do it three ways: helium balloons floating up against the ceiling with ribbon tails, air-filled balloons hung upside down at staggered drops, or garlands swagged from wall to wall. It turns a plain banquet hall or a school gym into an event space, and it's a favorite for prom, quinceañeras, weddings and holiday parties. Warehouse venues on the Westside, with exposed trusses to rig from, are made for it.
Hanging balloons, canopies and chandeliers
When floor space is tight, go up. We can suspend garlands over a family-style table, stretch a balloon canopy across a dance floor or tent poles, wrap an existing chandelier, or build a chandelier of our own on a hoop.
Balloon clouds
Think of a cloud as a puffy, airborne cluster, mostly white and clear balloons with a little pastel or metallic mixed in. It hovers over a table or stands in for a backdrop. Showers, cloud-nine birthdays and soft, romantic receptions book it most.
Balloon drops
Hundreds of balloons wait in a net or bag up near the ceiling, then tumble down on cue: midnight on New Year's Eve, the instant of a gender reveal, a couple's entrance, the final moment of a graduation or a product unveiling. We rig it before guests arrive, and a pull cord (or someone on our crew) lets it go.
Balloon sculptures and balloon art
Big balloon sculptures take a recognizable form: a giant number, a peach, a cake, a hot-air balloon, a mascot or a company logo. Balloon art for galleries, schools and brand activations can be built at life size or larger.
Balloon trees, palm trees and topiaries
Pool parties and luaus get palm trees, formal dinners get topiaries, and office lobbies get balloon Christmas trees in December. Each one stands on its own base, basically a balloon column with a shape on top.
Balloon tunnels
A balloon tunnel is a row of arches set close together for guests to walk through. It makes a memorable wedding entrance, a school walkway on the last day of class, a road-race finish line or a store-opening entry.
Balloon mosaics, number towers and marquee letters
A balloon mosaic packs small balloons into a number, letter or shape frame, a bit like a picture made of pixels. Mosaic numbers and letters spell out an age, an initial or a class year, and marquee letters with balloons wrapped around them add glow. They're among the pieces we're asked about most for birthdays and graduations.
Balloon wreaths and giant balloons
Balloon wreaths frame a front door or a welcome sign. Giant balloons, 36 inches and bigger and sometimes stuffed with confetti, create big moments at gender reveals, proposals and photo shoots.

Process
How a Custom Installation Comes Together
Larger builds take a little more planning. Here's what happens, step by step.
- 1
Brief
Share the event, the date, the venue and the idea. Photos, mood boards and brand guidelines all help.
- 2
Site details
We confirm room size, ceiling height, rigging points, power, load-in times and venue rules, either on a visit or from your photos and measurements.
- 3
Design and quote
You receive a design plan and a written quote. Large installs are priced by scope rather than by the foot.
- 4
Build day
We load in during the venue's window, build on-site and walk the room with you before the doors open.
- 5
Strike
Everything comes down at the end of the night or the next morning, whichever the venue requires.
Venue rules worth asking about early: hotels and event venues around Atlanta often set strict load-in and strike times, ask vendors for proof of liability insurance (a certificate of insurance), limit helium tanks, forbid tape on walls, and need approval before anything is hung from the ceiling. Midtown and Downtown high-rises add freight elevator reservations, and Saturdays near the stadiums mean game-day traffic. We sort these out before quoting so the build day goes smoothly.
Pricing
How Much Do Balloon Installations Cost in Atlanta?
Custom installations start at $450 and scale with size and complexity.
| Installation | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 3 ft | $225 |
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 5 ft | $395 |
| Custom balloon installation | $450 |
| Marquee letter or number rental | $55 each |
| Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures | Custom quote |
Large builds are quoted after we have the room's measurements. A venue's load-in rules and late-night strike can add to the total.
What sets an installation's price: square footage, balloon count and sizes, whether we need a lift to rig it (tall ceilings do), how much helium is involved, crew hours, late-night or overnight access, the venue's insurance requirements and whether teardown happens the same night. Send your venue and ceiling height with your request and we'll scope it properly.

Timing
How Far Ahead to Book a Balloon Installation
Give large installations three to six weeks.
A single mosaic number or a living-room drop usually only needs a week or two of notice. Bigger work is different: ceilings, tunnels, sculptures and any build inside a hotel or event venue want three to six weeks, since the design, the venue's approval and specialty balloon orders all take time. The dates that disappear first around here are the December party weekends, New Year's Eve, prom Saturdays in April, graduation weeks in May and homecoming weekends in October.

Questions
Custom Balloon Installations in Atlanta: FAQ
How much do balloon installations cost in Atlanta?
Custom builds start at $450, mosaic numbers at $225 and marquee letter rentals at $55 apiece. Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures get a project quote that reflects their size, the rigging involved and the labor.
What is a balloon ceiling?
It's decor that takes over the space above your guests. That can mean helium balloons bumping the ceiling with ribbons trailing down, air-filled balloons suspended at a mix of heights, or garlands looped from one wall to the other.
What is a balloon drop?
A net or bag of balloons rigged overhead and opened at a planned moment, so hundreds of balloons rain down for a midnight countdown, a reveal, an entrance or a send-off.
How many balloons does a balloon drop need?
About 100 to 250 for a living room or small space, and 500 to 1,500 or more over a dance floor or ballroom. The size of the drop zone and the ceiling height decide the number.
What is a balloon mosaic?
A cut-out frame in the shape of a number, a letter or a heart, packed with small balloons so it reads like a pixel image. Hosts book them most for birthday ages, class years and anniversary dates.
How long do ceiling balloons last?
Helium ceiling balloons look their best for roughly 8 to 12 hours. Air-filled hanging installations last several days indoors.
How far in advance should I book a balloon installation?
Allow three to six weeks for anything structural or venue-based, like ceilings, tunnels and sculptures. A mosaic number or a small home drop can usually be booked a week or two ahead.
Do Atlanta venues allow balloon installations?
Most will, as long as the vendor follows their rules. Expect requests for a certificate of insurance, fixed windows for setup and teardown, and limits on helium, tape and ceiling rigging. We check all of that before quoting.
What is balloon art?
Balloon art covers sculptures and large designed pieces built from balloons, from giant numbers and logos to characters and full installations. It's a different craft from the twisted balloon animals you see at kids' parties.
